New Delhi, Feb 16 (PTI) India has exceeded its budget for providing loans to foreign countries by a staggering Rs 810 crore from the budgeted provision of just Rs four crore for FY'09.
In the interim Budget presented today, the government said it would be giving Rs 814.81 crore as loans to Maldives, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Cambodia during the year ending March 31, 2009.

Out of the total amount of Rs 814.81 crore, Rs 500 crore would be given to Maldives, Rs 300 crore to Bhutan and Rs 10.51 crore to Sri Lanka. An amount of Rs 4.30 crore would be given to Cambodia.

For 2009-10, the budget for loans to foreign governments would be just Rs one lakh. PTI

 

As per statements from Ministry of Finanace and treasury, Maldivesc has started getting part payments out of the USD.50 M assistance loan  promised Last Year.
