Call for Expression of Interest (EOI) by Maldives National Broadcasting Corporation Limited (MNBC) ; For joint venture partnerships in relevant areas of broadcasting and media industry; including Satellite Cable Network, Media Training, New Media and Print Media.

 

 

Description of Requirement

 

The Maldives National Broadcasting Corporation (MNBC) is the state-owned public broadcasting service provider.

MNBC, incorporated in the Maldives by government charter, has over 500 employees and assets worth over US$156 million. MNBC’s reach extends to almost every household in the country through its television channel and two radio channels. MNBC is currently trying to expand its services to new areas such as mobile media, Cable TV, training and education, digital video, and audio and print media.

The corporate strategy of MNBC is to deliver high quality and reliable services to the public while maximizing the development of the corporation in order to sustain it as a leader in the Maldivian broadcasting sector. For this reason MNBC believes further growth could be achieved by joining with other local and international parties and gaining assistance of sharing resources, expertise and technologies. 

 

Scope of Services

 

MNBC is looking forward to explore new opportunities and keep its policy open towards expanding new areas of services through joint ventures with other potential consortiums in the field. The aim of the partnership is to expand into new areas of services and further improve the quality of the outputs and at the same time to increase the profitability of the corporation.

 

Expression of Interest


MNBC is inviting both local and international entrepreneurs to submit written Expression of Interest (EOI) to form joint ventures in developing new businesses in areas relevant to media and the broadcasting industry

 

 

 

 

 

 

The EOI shall consist of the following;

 

1.  Brief introduction of the applicant including company profile and current management details of the firm.

 

2. Brief concept paper on how the firm proposes for a prospective Joint Venture with the MNBC.

 

 

Important Notice

 

1. The EOI does not constitute a solicitation. The MNBC reserves the right to change or cancel the requirement at any time during the EOI and solicitation process. Thus, submitting a reply to an EOI does not automatically guarantee that the firm will be considered for receipt of the solicitation when issued.

 

2. Parties with potential proposals will be invited for further discussions and negotiations for developing any prospective businesses relevant to the core business areas of the corporation.

 

3. Parties selected for solicitation will be invited for detailed discussions, to survey the existing facilities and to shape and propose the project in detail.

Deadline for the submission of Expression of Interest                        23 February 2009

Short listing of parties to be completed by                               2 March 2009

Request for Proposals sent to shortlisted parties                                  2 March 2009

Deadline for submission of proposals                                     13 April 2009

Evaluation of submitted proposals to be complete by              20 April 2009

Proposed date for signing of the MOU                                                4 May 2009
